If there's one thing I can thank the year 2020 for, it's making me head out and explore my own home town of Victoria. In the beginning, not having overseas travel plans seemed disappointing, or even the thought of not working in another Australian city for a while seemed foreign, but sometimes it takes something big to force us to take a step back and look at the beauty right in front of our eyes.
Exploring Victoria has become my new found hobby! I would never have thought there were so many beautiful and diverse places to visit, right at my doorstep.
Triplet Falls is a stunning waterfall and rainforest walk located about a 2.5 hour drive out of Melbourne, not too far from Lorne or the famous Great Ocean Road. Triplet Falls is one of many waterfalls located within the Beech Forest, and is well worth a visit if you are looking to explore. Driving into the forest, it gradually felt like we were entering into another realm. The ferns and tall redwoods, paired with the dark gravel road gave a fairytale feeling, and when we started the walk, that feeling only grew stronger. The sun beamed through the trees, glistening on the leaves, and the air was crisp - a cool refreshing temperature to manage the walk.
The full circuit walk was 2km, most of which was downhill, with a 15-20 minute slight uphill walk to return to the start from the waterfall. The ground was very stable and the path clearly marked - even an inexperienced walker could handle this route with ease. A lookout point was the perfect point to stop for a quick rest and take in the stunning view of the waterfall, although personally, I was in awe even before reaching the falls, simply from the beauty of the forest.
Watch the video to really see the beauty of this walk, and be sure to pay a visit to Triplet Falls next time you are after an adventure!
Thank you to Jeremy Brown for the incredible photography and videography.
